Environmental Coordinator (Energy)

Location: Merrillville, Indiana, United States; travel to project locations required

Salary: $82,200–$123,200 annually for Environmental Coordinator 2; $96,600–$144,900 annually for Environmental Coordinator 3

What you will do

• Manage environmental liability and capital projects involving RCRA and CERCLA programs, including former manufactured gas plants, generating stations, gas storage facilities, and compressor stations.
• Develop and oversee environmental investigations, remedial actions, compliance inspections, audits, permits, and corrective actions.
• Coordinate consultants and contractors, review technical reports and analytical data, and develop project work plans and scopes.
• Manage capital project budgets, environmental reserves, asset retirement obligation estimates, and cash forecasts.
• Represent the company with regulatory agencies and communicate environmental liability and project status to business partners.
• Support spill response, due diligence reviews, continuous improvement, and environmental risk reduction.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in science, environmental science, engineering, or a related field.
• At least 3 years of relevant remediation or compliance experience for Coordinator 2, or 5 years for Coordinator 3.
• Experience managing third-party consultants or vendors, budgets, cash forecasts, and environmental projects.
• Working knowledge of RCRA, CERCLA, NPDES, SPCC, environmental, water, and waste management requirements.
• Ability to interpret technical data concerning water, soil, sediment, and air or vapor media, with strong written, oral, analytical, and communication skills.
• OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER certification or ability to obtain it, willingness to travel, and legal authorization to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship are required.

Nice to have

• M.S. degree in an environmental-related field and knowledge of groundwater or soil remediation techniques.
• Manufactured gas plant remediation and field-based construction or demolition experience.
• Project management skills and experience with environmental engineering and institutional controls.
• Knowledge of natural gas or electric generation and distribution operations.
