Environmental Coordinator

Location: Abilene, Texas, United States. Travel required 20%–40%, including occasional overnight stays; limited after-hours and weekend availability is required.

Salary: $63,496–$84,660 for Grade 5, $74,551–$99,401 for Grade 6. Compensation range: $63,496–$93,188.50.

What you will do

• Coordinate environmental compliance activities across transmission and distribution regions, ensuring adherence to environmental laws, regulations, permits, and company policies.
• Provide training, instruction, and support to employees and business unit leaders on environmental program requirements.
• Respond to oil and chemical spills, including agency notifications, contractor coordination, cleanup direction, and regulatory follow-up reporting.
• Review environmental disposal contractors and related facilities with lead auditors.
• Conduct or oversee environmental inspections, Phase I and Phase II environmental site assessments, and remediation projects.
• Respond to public inquiries and promote safe work practices for employees, contractors, the public, and company facilities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in physical sciences, such as biology, chemistry, geology, or physical science.
• Minimum of 2 years of environmental experience.
• Intermediate knowledge of environmental programs including storage tanks, hazardous materials transportation, waste management, spill prevention, water monitoring, air emissions, asbestos, PCBs, pollution prevention, environmental assessments, and emergency planning.
• Ability to implement environmental programs, policies, and procedures and make sound operational recommendations.
• Effective oral and written communication skills and ability to work with employees and external audiences.
• Valid driver’s license required; physical demand ranges from sedentary to light duty.
