Special Assets Officer (Commercial Real Estate)

What you will do

• Manage classified commercial real estate, multifamily, and/or C&I loan portfolios from initial review through resolution.
• Prepare credit approval memoranda, financial analyses, relationship overviews, collateral assessments, risk evaluations, and recommendations.
• Identify emerging credit risks, report changes to management, and implement corrective actions to reduce defaults, non-accrual status, and impairment migration.
• Develop and execute workout strategies, negotiate with borrowers, guarantors, and third parties, and maximize recovery while protecting the bank’s interests.
• Monitor borrower performance, loan covenants, reporting requirements, and agreed action plans.
• Perform reserve analysis, charge-off calculations, credit cost forecasting, documentation reviews, and litigation-related work.

Requirements

• Undergraduate degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field.
• At least 6 years of experience in Workout or Special Assets; experience at an OCC-regulated institution is preferred.
• Knowledge of real estate documentation, real estate policies, procedures, and related lending laws.
• Strong financial analysis, communication, organization, prioritization, and relationship-building skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and various loan databases.
• Ability to work independently, collaborate with teams, and manage a detailed workload in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

• 7 or more years of relevant work experience.
• Experience with OCC-regulated institutions.
