Lead Full-Stack Engineer - Backend Focus (AI Platform)

Location: Remote, but candidates must live close to one of the designated U.S. IT locations: New York City, Louisville, Tampa, Fort Lauderdale, Dallas/Frisco, Boston, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Nashville, Chicago, or Charlotte. Occasional travel to hirify.global offices for training or meetings may be required.

Salary: $155,200–$213,400 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus incentive plan.

What you will do

• Design and lead development of backend services, REST and GraphQL APIs, and service-to-service integrations for CenterWell’s AI product stack.
• Establish authentication, authorization, rate-limiting, PHI access-control, audit-logging, and HIPAA-compliant platform patterns.
• Build reusable AI and LLM integration patterns, including routing, streaming responses, tool orchestration, and model-output handling.
• Develop logging, monitoring, and alerting infrastructure for reliable platform operation at scale.
• Deliver full-stack product features with TypeScript, Next.js, and React.
• Lead architecture reviews and define backend engineering standards.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 8+ years of software engineering experience with deep backend and platform expertise.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and/or Python for API and service development.
• Experience building scalable, production-grade REST or GraphQL APIs and owning complex backend systems through production operation.
• Knowledge of OAuth2, OIDC, API security, authorization models, and HIPAA requirements for PHI.
• Experience with Next.js, React, and AI-assisted development tools or LLM coding harnesses.

Nice to have

• Healthcare, financial services, or other regulated-industry experience.
• Experience with event-driven architecture, microservices, or API gateways at scale.
• Familiarity with AI/LLM streaming APIs and tool-use orchestration.
• Experience in a greenfield or team-founding engineering environment.
