IT Infrastructure Engineer (Microsoft Azure/VMware)

Location: Based in Fareham, United Kingdom, with occasional travel to other hirify.global locations

What you will do

• Support and maintain on-premises VMware environments, including virtual machines, hosts, clusters and storage connectivity.
• Monitor and improve server, storage, network, wireless, cloud and infrastructure services for availability, resilience, performance and security.
• Administer Microsoft Azure services, including virtual machines, storage, networking, identity, monitoring and backup.
• Operate backup and recovery services, investigate failures, support restores and assist with recovery testing.
• Support LAN, WAN, switching, routing, firewall, VPN, wireless, Microsoft 365 and SharePoint services.
• Resolve infrastructure incidents, maintain technical documentation, support patching and upgrades, and coordinate with suppliers and stakeholders.

Requirements

• Experience supporting VMware virtualization platforms in on-premises infrastructure environments.
• Working knowledge of Windows Server, Active Directory, DNS, DHCP and Group Policy.
• Experience with backup, recovery and disaster recovery processes.
• Understanding of VLANs, routing, switching, firewalls, VPNs, wireless technologies and cloud networking.
• Experience supporting Microsoft 365 services, including SharePoint Online, Teams, OneDrive and Exchange Online.
• Structured troubleshooting, clear technical documentation, workload prioritisation and effective collaboration skills.

Nice to have

• Experience with SAN or NAS enterprise storage platforms.
• Knowledge of IT security controls, vulnerability management, infrastructure patching and compliance.
• Experience with ITIL-aligned service management, infrastructure change, migration, cloud adoption or service improvement projects.
• Relevant VMware, Microsoft, Azure, networking, backup or infrastructure certifications.
