Senior Infrastructure Engineer (Microsoft Azure)

What you will do

• Own the design, implementation, and lifecycle management of resilient physical and cloud infrastructure across the UK estate.
• Set technical standards for Windows Server, Active Directory, Azure, Microsoft 365, networking, storage, virtualization, and server platforms.
• Lead workload migrations to Microsoft Azure, cloud integrations, FinOps, security compliance, backup, disaster recovery, and regular DR testing.
• Manage patching, upgrades, monitoring, vulnerability remediation, and troubleshooting across infrastructure environments.
• Act as the senior Tier 3/4 escalation point, participate in the on-call rotation, and collaborate with application, networking, security, and support teams.
• Mentor junior and mid-level engineers, document systems and procedures, and automate monitoring and administration activities.

Requirements

• 7+ years of IT infrastructure engineering experience, including infrastructure design ownership and leadership of migration or transformation projects.
• Hands-on experience with Microsoft Cloud and on-premises environments, enterprise networking, firewalls, routers, switches, and access points.
• Proficiency in Active Directory, Entra ID, Azure, Windows Server, Microsoft Intune, and hypervisors.
• Strong PowerShell scripting and automation skills, plus Infrastructure-as-Code experience with Terraform, Bicep, or ARM.
• Knowledge of LAN/WAN, VLANs, firewalls, VPNs, ITSM, ITIL, security, and GDPR requirements.
• Fluent written and verbal English is required. A relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is expected.

• Network+, Security+, CCNA, Microsoft Azure, Windows Server Hybrid Administrator, Microsoft 365, or related technical certifications.
