TL;DR
IT Senior Solutions Engineer (Cybersecurity): Building and operating secure, air-gapped IT infrastructure and on-premises VDI services across Maidenhead and Farnborough with an accent on virtual desktop platforms, infrastructure security, and multi-site service delivery. Focus on migrating VDI technologies, developing Windows and Ubuntu desktop images, automating operations, and maintaining compliance, backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity.
Location: Maidenhead and Farnborough, United Kingdom; site-based across both facilities

What you will do
- Manage and optimise on-premises VDI services, user profiles, virtual desktops, and thin-client environments.
- Lead VDI migration, enhancement, and technology upgrade projects across the multi-site infrastructure.
- Monitor, maintain, and upgrade servers, networks, storage, virtualisation platforms, and security systems.
- Coordinate incident, change, vendor, and service-improvement activities with architecture and service delivery teams.
- Maintain backup, disaster recovery, and business continuity plans, including annual live testing.
- Prepare IT improvement proposals, project requirements, budgets, and technology succession plans.
Requirements
- At least five years of relevant experience in IT infrastructure or solutions engineering.
- Bachelor's degree in information technology, information systems, business, or equivalent professional experience.
- Ability to obtain and maintain the required UK security clearance; applicants must be British Citizens resident in the UK for the required clearance period.
- Expertise with Omnissa Horizon or an equivalent VDI platform, FSLogix or similar profile-management tools, and virtualised application provisioning.
- Experience with desktop image development for Windows 11 and Ubuntu, Dell Thin Clients, Wyse Management Server, and multi-site infrastructure.
- Knowledge of PowerShell or other automation tools, ITIL service management, Microsoft 365, Azure, Intune, Autopilot, SCCM, Exchange, and Windows Server.
Nice to have
- Experience with Nutanix hyperconverged infrastructure or data-centre server hardware.
- Experience working in a global enterprise environment and with third-party support vendors.
