Senior Solutions Engineer (VDI)

TL;DR

Senior Solutions Engineer (VDI/Infrastructure): Managing and supporting air-gapped IT infrastructure and VDI services for defense programs with an accent on platform reliability and security compliance. Focus on building a new platform from the ground up, optimizing VDI performance, and ensuring robust disaster recovery.

Location: Onsite in Maidenhead and Farnborough, UK. Must be a British Citizen resident in the UK (5 years for SC, 10 years for DV clearance).

What you will do

• Manage and optimize on-premises VDI environments (Omnissa Horizon) for high performance and security.
• Lead migration projects to next-generation VDI platforms and implement system upgrades.
• Maintain and upgrade core infrastructure, including Nutanix HCI, servers, and networks, adhering to NIST and ISO27001 standards.
• Develop and maintain gold images for Windows 11 and Ubuntu.
• Coordinate Backup, Disaster Recovery (DR), and Business Continuity (BC) plans and annual live testing.
• Collaborate with vendors and architecture teams to integrate new technologies and drive service improvements.

Requirements

• Must be a British Citizen with residency requirements (5-10 years) for SC/DV security clearance.
• Bachelor’s degree in IT, Information Systems, or equivalent professional experience.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure or solutions engineering.
• Expertise in VDI technologies (Omnissa Horizon) and user profile management (FSLogix).
• Proficiency in PowerShell for automation, system monitoring, and reporting.
• Experience with Windows Server (2016-2022), Azure, M365, Intune, and SCCM.

Nice to have

• Experience with Nutanix HCI or server hardware in data center environments.
• Familiarity with Dell Thin Clients and Wyse Management Server.
• Knowledge of ITIL processes for incident and change management.
