Senior Technician, Facility Services, HVAC/Refrigeration

Location: Springfield, Missouri, United States; onsite at Walmart Supercenter 00444

Salary: $35.00–$70.00 per hour, with possible premiums of $0.35–$3.00 per hour.

What you will do

• Oversee installation, commissioning, diagnostics, troubleshooting, inspection, and repair of commercial and industrial HVAC/R systems.
• Manage supermarket refrigeration equipment, including rack systems, walk-ins, reach-ins, control panels, ductwork, and building pneumatics.
• Implement preventive maintenance programs, manage refrigerant levels and parts inventory, and maintain equipment reliability.
• Lead HVAC/R field teams, coordinate assignments and regional workloads, mentor technicians, and deliver hands-on training.
• Coordinate vendors, service calls, special projects, business solutions, and compliance documentation.
• Participate in on-call rotations, maintain company vehicles, and respond to business-critical incidents outside standard hours.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in HVAC or grocery rack refrigeration, or 6 years plus an Associate of Applied Science degree in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.
• Current Type I and Type II or Universal EPA refrigerant-handling certification.
• HVAC/R or mechanical journeyman qualification where required.
• At least 1 year of experience in plumbing, electrical work, material handling equipment, or a related area, or 2 years of Walmart store experience.
• Valid state-issued driver’s license, acceptable motor vehicle report, and compliant commercial driving record.
• Compliance with OSHA standards, EPA refrigerant protocols, applicable HVAC/R codes, and environmental requirements.

Nice to have

• Completion of a two-year technical or vocational HVAC/R program or an associate degree in air conditioning and refrigeration.
• Experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Experience using hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, and office productivity software.
• Experience with glycol and CO2 systems.
