Senior Technician, Facility Services, HVAC/Refrigeration

Location: Alvin, Texas, United States; onsite at a Walmart Supercenter

Hourly wage: $35.00–$70.00 per hour, with possible premiums of $0.35–$3.00 per hour.

What you will do

• Oversee installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of commercial and industrial HVAC/R systems, including ductwork, control panels, and refrigeration units.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and refrigerant-related issues.
• Implement preventive maintenance programs to improve equipment performance and reduce downtime.
• Manage refrigerant handling and maintain compliance with OSHA, EPA, and applicable HVAC/R codes.
• Coordinate, mentor, and train field technicians while evaluating skill development.
• Manage parts inventory, vendor relationships, service schedules, and on-call support for critical operational needs.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in HVAC or grocery rack refrigeration, or 6 years plus an Associate of Applied Science in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.
• Type I and Type II or Universal EPA certification for refrigerant handling; HVAC-R or mechanical journeyman qualification where required.
• At least 1 year of experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or a related area, or 2 years of Walmart store experience.
• Valid state-issued driver's license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report.
• Commercial driving record meeting specified requirements, including no recent DUI, DWI, or OUI convictions and no serious traffic violations.
• Experience leading and mentoring field teams, with knowledge of OSHA standards, EPA refrigerant protocols, and federal, state, and local HVAC/R codes.

Nice to have

• Completion of a two-year technical or vocational HVAC/R program or an associate degree in air conditioning and refrigeration.
• Experience with word processing, spreadsheets, email, presentation software, blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
• Experience with glycol and CO2 systems.
