PGO Carolinas West P&C SCADA Engineer I or Engineer II (SCADA)

Location: Charlotte, NC — hybrid schedule with a minimum of three days in the office at the Plaza Building

What you will do

• Design, develop, and implement programs and configuration files for SCADA devices supporting substation metering, alarming, controls, and troubleshooting.
• Support SCADA hardware platforms, Station Data Managers, HMIs, and communications protocols including DNP 3.0, SEL, ASCII, and MODBUS.
• Read protection one-lines, wiring diagrams, schematics, panel drawings, relay settings, customer data, and related project documentation.
• Create I/O summaries and maintain accurate project records, compliance data, databases, and engineering files.
• Coordinate with P&C Engineering, Design, Field Resources, System Operations, and Operations/Control Center personnel.
• Provide commissioning, engineering, troubleshooting, after-hours emergency support, and storm-response assistance when required.

Requirements

• Obtain a Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program; a Master’s degree in Engineering may be accepted in lieu of the bachelor’s degree.
• Engineer I requires no experience; Engineer II requires at least two years of engineering experience at a fully meets performance level.
• Understand basic engineering theories, engineering research and design practices, alternative evaluation, recommendations, and technical presentations.
• Demonstrate strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to work with individuals from varied backgrounds.
• Must be able to work lawfully in the United States without employment-based immigration sponsorship, now or in the future.
• Be available for 5–15% travel, field-site or plant visits, and scheduled after-hours support rotation as required.

Nice to have

• Electrical or computer engineering degree and a passing grade on the Engineering Fundamentals Exam.
• Utility-industry or department-specific engineering experience.
• Knowledge of project management, networking, telecommunications, SCADA hardware platforms, HMI software, automation, and computing platforms.
• Familiarity with SEL products and regulatory requirements including NERC CIP.
