TL;DR
Sr. Controls Engineer (Hydrogen/SCADA): Developing and deploying PLC, HMI, and SCADA software for hydrogen generation, compression, storage, and dispensing systems with an accent on process control, data acquisition, and system reliability. Focus on testing and refining automation solutions, managing software releases, and solving complex field-performance and downtime challenges across deployed hydrogen infrastructure.

Location: Johnstown, New York 12095, United States. Travel required as needed, up to 20%.

Salary: $95,040–$142,500 per year.

What you will do

  • Develop and deploy software solutions for hydrogen infrastructure focused on process control and optimal system performance.
  • Create and manage PLC, HMI, SCADA, data acquisition, and system interpretation programs.
  • Lead software deployments and coordinate deliverables with engineering, manufacturing, and field service teams.
  • Test automation and software solutions before and after deployment to ensure reliability.
  • Refine controls using field data and stakeholder input to improve system reliability and reduce downtime.
  • Manage software release changes, interpret P&IDs and electrical schematics, and train users on system interfacing and troubleshooting.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • Five or more years of relevant experience, including PLC and HMI solution development for field applications.
  • Experience with PLC programming, ladder logic, functional block diagrams, sequential flow charts, and HMI programming.
  • Experience with Schneider automation tools, Allen Bradley systems, Modbus, data management, SQL, and Microsoft Office.
  • Strong analytical, communication, project management, multitasking, and follow-through abilities.
  • Ability to travel up to 20% as required by the position.

Nice to have

  • Experience with gas processing and/or refueling systems.
  • Experience with Schneider tools such as Citect, Vijeo, Unity, or Modicon, and Allen Bradley tools such as RSLogix or FactoryTalk.
