IT Systems Engineer, Senior

Location: Hybrid within the PG&E Service Territory, with 2–3 days per week at the Oakland Headquarters or San Ramon based on business needs

Salary: $114,000–$182,000 annually; the expected range is approximately $114,000–$148,000, plus eligibility for discretionary incentive compensation.

What you will do

• Support and maintain complex ADMS applications, including SCADA, OMS, DMS, and related integrations.
• Monitor system health, investigate incidents, troubleshoot production issues, and restore critical grid operations services.
• Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions across application, infrastructure, and integration domains.
• Support upgrades, patching, deployments, failover testing, disaster recovery exercises, and environment maintenance.
• Collaborate with control center operations, business users, vendors, infrastructure, cybersecurity, and application support teams.
• Develop runbooks and technical documentation, mentor junior engineers, and improve monitoring, automation, reliability, and cybersecurity.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
• At least 3 years of software or system engineering experience.
• Experience troubleshooting complex application, system, and integration issues in production environments.
• Knowledge of incident, problem, change, and release management processes.
• Ability to participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation and respond to production incidents.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, and customer service skills.

Nice to have

• Programming or scripting experience.
• Utility industry experience and knowledge of ADMS, SCADA, or OMS.
• Experience with monitoring, log analysis, application performance management, and system health tools.
• Knowledge of high availability, disaster recovery, business continuity, and ITIL-based service management.
• Experience working with vendors, business stakeholders, and cross-functional technical teams.
