Senior Technician, Facility Services, HVAC/Refrigeration

Location: Chesapeake, Virginia, United States; onsite facility services role

Hourly wage: $35.00–$70.00 per hour, with possible premiums of $0.35–$3.00 per hour.

What you will do

• Oversee installation, commissioning, diagnostics, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance for HVAC/R systems, supermarket refrigeration, rack systems, walk-ins, reach-ins, ductwork, control panels, and building pneumatics.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, EPA refrigerant-handling protocols, environmental guidelines, and federal, state, and local HVAC/R codes.
• Lead HVAC/R field teams by coordinating assignments, managing escalated service issues, mentoring technicians, and delivering hands-on technical and safety training.
• Manage refrigerant levels, parts inventory, vendor relationships, service calls, regional workloads, work orders, maintenance records, and required documentation.
• Support special projects and business solutions by evaluating operational needs, collecting data, assessing technologies, and recommending improvements.
• Participate in an on-call rotation, maintain company vehicles, and safely operate commercial motor vehicles.

Requirements

• 3 years of experience in HVAC or grocery rack refrigeration; alternatively, 6 years of relevant experience plus an Associate of Applied Science in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.
• Type I and Type II or Universal EPA certification for refrigerant handling.
• HVAC/R or mechanical journeyman qualification where required.
• At least 1 year of experience in plumbing, electrical, material handling equipment, or a related area, or 2 years of Walmart store experience.
• Valid state-issued driver's license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report; commercial driving record must meet stated safety requirements.
• Work is based at the Chesapeake, Virginia facility.

Nice to have

• Completion of a two-year technical or vocational HVAC/R program or associate degree in air conditioning and refrigeration.
• Experience with Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams, hand tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
• Experience with glycol and CO2 systems.
