Electrical Engineer II or Electrical Engineer III (Power Systems and Controls)

Location: Union, Kentucky; onsite at a company facility. Travel requirements are 5–15%.

What you will do

• Serve as the site subject matter expert for assigned electrical and control systems.
• Monitor system and component performance, evaluate preventive maintenance results, and improve equipment reliability using fleet operating experience and industry learnings.
• Maintain station- and turbine-specific DCS, SCADA, and PLC process control systems for safe, reliable, and compliant power-station operation.
• Develop the scope, technical basis, installation requirements, and testing requirements for engineering design changes involving power systems, motors, transformers, switchgear, breakers, and related equipment.
• Direct onsite testing and troubleshooting, coordinate with operations, maintenance, design engineering, transmission, and cybersecurity teams, and resolve emergent system issues.
• Manage external control-system vendor relationships, contracts, on-call support, maintenance, parts agreements, and technical issue resolution.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program; a Master’s degree in Engineering may be accepted in lieu of the bachelor’s degree.
• Engineer II: at least 2 years of related work experience.
• Engineer III: at least 4 years of related work experience.
• Knowledge of engineering principles, design issue research, alternatives evaluation, project management, and technical recommendations.
• Good written and oral communication skills and the ability to work with people from varied backgrounds.
• Must be able to work lawfully in the United States without employment-based immigration sponsorship now or in the future.

Nice to have

• Passing grade on the Engineering Fundamentals Exam.
• Experience in the utility industry.
• Department-specific experience relevant to the hiring organization.
