Senior Staff Controls Engineer

Location: Sussex, Wisconsin, USA; field-based with up to 80% travel required

What you will do

• Design, validate, and bring new power-control products to market.
• Develop control designs, tune closed-loop systems, program PLCs, and integrate electrical systems.
• Create system simulations, execute fitness-for-use testing, and develop product specifications and validation plans.
• Evaluate designs for cost, reliability, safety, manufacturability, and overall effectiveness.
• Collaborate with manufacturing partners, contract manufacturers, designers, and product specialists.
• Mentor less experienced engineers and contribute to cross-functional product development plans.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of relevant work experience.
• Expertise in control algorithms, power control and management, closed-loop tuning, stability analysis, and performance optimization.
• Experience with model-based design, high-fidelity simulations, automated design verification, and production-ready code generation.
• Experience developing and executing HIL/SIL, bench, system, and fault-injection testing.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel up to 80%.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering with a focus on control engineering.
• Experience serving on a regulatory committee in a technical role.
• Experience with machine design and SAP or an equivalent ERP system.
