TL;DR
Field Service Engineer (Medical Devices): Installing, maintaining, troubleshooting, and optimizing digital and robotic-assisted orthopedic Capital systems in clinical and customer environments with an accent on electromechanical systems, regulatory compliance, and surgical support. Focus on resolving complex hardware and software issues, supporting operating-room cases, and ensuring reliable system performance across customer sites.

Location: Pomezia, Roma, Italy; customer-site field work with approximately 50% regional travel within Italy and occasional international travel.

Salary: €33,700–€54,395 base pay annually.

What you will do

  • Install, commission, maintain, and service Capital systems and enabling technologies at customer sites.
  • Diagnose and resolve hardware, software, and integrated-system issues to maintain system uptime.
  • Provide on-site technical support during surgical cases and clinical use.
  • Perform preventive maintenance, upgrades, functional testing, and corrective actions.
  • Document service activities and technical issues in service management systems.
  • Collaborate with commercial, clinical, and technical teams on product launches, customer training, and complex issue investigations.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in biomedical, electrical, mechanical, mechatronics, or related engineering.
  • At least 2 years of relevant field service, technical support, or engineering experience.
  • Hands-on troubleshooting experience with hardware, software, and integrated systems in customer-facing environments.
  • Ability to work independently in the field and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
  • Fluent Italian and professional working proficiency in English required.
  • Flexible availability for early mornings, evenings, and weekends aligned with surgical schedules; valid driver’s license required.

Nice to have

  • Experience with robotic-assisted surgery systems or advanced digital medical technologies.
  • Knowledge of ISO, GMP, MDR/FDA, medical-device quality systems, networking, imaging, or operating-room software platforms.
  • Experience working with surgeons, operating-room staff, and hospital biomedical teams.
  • Technical or biomedical service certifications.
