Director, Major Projects | New Generation (Construction Utility Projects)

Location: Cresap, West Virginia, United States; on-site at the project location throughout project execution

Salary: $188,524–$245,080 per year, plus potential incentives and benefits

What you will do

• Lead overall execution of major generation projects with capital budgets ranging from $1B to $10B.
• Direct project safety, schedule, cost, commercial performance, risk management, change control, and delivery.
• Establish contracting strategies and oversee EPC, engineering, construction, consultant, and vendor relationships.
• Lead project teams, manage staffing, mentor project leaders, and report strategy, performance, and resource needs to executive leadership.
• Coordinate with utilities, RTOs, regulators, landowners, contractors, and other stakeholders to obtain required approvals and certificates.
• Deliver construction safely and in compliance with applicable regulatory, NERC, FERC, RTO, and utility commission requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, business, project management, accounting, finance, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of qualified experience in major construction projects, project management, commissioning, project controls, generation, portfolio management, or contract negotiations.
• PMP certification required.
• Progressive responsibility, strong business acumen, demonstrated leadership, strategic planning, risk mitigation, conflict management, delegation, and decision-making skills.
• Valid state driver’s license required.
• Must work at the project location throughout the execution phase; duties may include construction site walkdowns, ladder climbing, and work at power plants or construction sites.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in business, engineering, project management, accounting, finance, construction management, or a related field.
• Experience with utility generation, heavy industrial construction, new-generation EPC models, generation interconnection agreements, permits, and environmental applications.
• Experience coordinating with PJM, MISO, SPP, ERCOT, state utility commissions, and federal, state, or local agencies.
• Prior internal experience as Project Manager Staff, Project Manager Staff Senior, or Director Projects.
