Project Director - Major Capital Projects (Utility Energy)

Location: Denver, Colorado, United States; on-site oversight of relocation and construction activities is required.

Salary: $129,000–$183,200 per year

What you will do

• Direct the lifecycle of major utility projects, including substations, electric transmission, gas and electric facility relocations, and other capital projects.
• Manage budgets, schedules, estimates, procurement, design, construction, property transactions, easements, agreements, invoicing, and project closeout.
• Coordinate with municipalities, regulators, customers, contractors, legal teams, media, and transportation stakeholders.
• Oversee engineering and field relocation activities, validate utility conflicts, and coordinate timely resolutions.
• Negotiate utility relocation and new power agreements while ensuring compliance with legal terms and project standards.
• Report project status, resolve customer complaints, and coordinate invoice reimbursements.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, or a related field.
• At least eight years of combined gas or electric utility experience in engineering or an equivalent combination of education, training, and knowledge.
• Strong project management, leadership, multitasking, and collaboration skills.
• Familiarity with regulations applicable to engineering and construction projects.
• Must meet applicable federal, state, and company drug-testing requirements.

Nice to have

• Experience in a utility regulatory environment.
• Experience executing capital projects under an EPC model or managing bulk electric system projects.
• Professional engineer license.
• Previous project management, lead, or supervisory experience.
