Director, Major Projects | New Generation (Construction Utility Projects)

Location: Rockport, Indiana, United States; on-site at the project location for the duration of execution

Salary: $188,524–$245,080 per year, plus eligible incentives and benefits

What you will do

• Lead end-to-end execution of major generation projects with capital budgets of $1B–$10B.
• Direct project management functions covering safety, schedule, cost, commercial performance, risk, change management, and delivery.
• Oversee EPC contractors, engineering resources, construction activities, staffing, and vendor performance.
• Establish contracting and commercial strategies, negotiate agreements, and resolve technical and commercial disputes.
• Manage regulatory filings, permits, utility and RTO coordination, and compliance with NERC, FERC, RTO, and utility commission requirements.
• Build and mentor project leadership teams while aligning executives, regulators, utilities, landowners, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, business, project management, accounting, finance, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of qualified experience with major construction projects, project management, project controls, commissioning, generation, portfolio management, or contract negotiations.
• PMP certification and a valid state driver’s license.
• Progressive responsibility, strong business acumen, effective leadership, strategic planning, risk mitigation, conflict management, delegation, and decision-making skills.
• Must work on the project location for the duration of project execution and be able to work at offices, power plants, and construction sites, including hazardous areas where applicable.
• Ability to travel as required and perform site walkdowns involving unstable surfaces, ladders, and hazardous site conditions.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in business, engineering, project management, accounting, finance, construction management, or a related field.
• Experience with utility generation, heavy industrial construction, new-generation EPC models, generation interconnection agreements, and environmental permits.
• Experience coordinating with PJM, MISO, SPP, ERCOT, state utility commissions, USACE, USFWS, and NEPA processes.
• Experience in executive communications, commercial strategy, direct supervision, and generation project engineering or construction oversight.
