Senior Technician, Facility Services, HVAC/Refrigeration

Hourly wage: $35.00–$70.00 per hour, with possible premiums of $0.35–$3.00 per hour.

Walmart operates retail facilities and provides commercial facility services, including HVAC/R and supermarket refrigeration maintenance.

What you will do

• Oversee installation, commissioning, diagnostics, troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance of commercial and industrial HVAC/R systems.
• Manage supermarket refrigeration equipment, including rack systems, walk-ins, reach-ins, controls, ductwork, and building pneumatics.
• Ensure compliance with OSHA standards, EPA refrigerant-handling protocols, environmental guidelines, and applicable HVAC/R codes.
• Lead HVAC/R field teams, coordinate assignments and regional workloads, mentor technicians, and resolve escalated service issues.
• Deliver hands-on training on safety, controls troubleshooting, and system operations, and provide feedback on technician development.
• Manage refrigerant levels, parts inventory, vendors, work orders, company vehicles, and on-call responses for business-critical incidents.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of experience in HVAC or grocery rack refrigeration, or 6 years plus an Associate of Applied Science in Air Conditioning and Refrigeration.
• Valid Type I and Type II or Universal EPA certification for refrigerant handling.
• HVAC-R or mechanical journeyman qualification where required.
• Experience in plumbing, electrical work, material handling equipment, or a related area, or 2 years of Walmart store experience.
• Valid state-issued driver’s license and ability to pass a motor vehicle report, with specified commercial driving safety requirements.
• Must work at the Dallas, Texas facility and participate in an on-call rotation.

Nice to have

• Completion of a 2-year technical or vocational HVAC/R program or associate degree in air conditioning and refrigeration.
• Experience reading blueprints, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
• Experience with hand tools, power tools, testing equipment, Glycol, and CO2 systems.
• Experience using word processing, spreadsheet, email, and presentation software.
