Assistant Safety Manager

Location: Culpeper, Virginia, United States; work is performed at project jobsites as necessary

Salary: $77,000–$112,000 per year

What you will do

• Conduct on-site safety inspections using a web-based health and safety application.
• Evaluate project and subcontractor compliance with federal, state, local, corporate, and client safety requirements.
• Track safety issues through closure and distribute inspection findings to project teams and subcontractors.
• Research OSHA regulations and support accident and incident investigations.
• Deliver toolbox meetings, health and safety training, orientations, and project-wide safety stand-downs.
• Support job hazard analysis, site-specific safety plans, documentation, signage, and protective equipment selection.

Requirements

• 2–5+ years of safety experience, including experience with a general contractor.
• OSHA 30 certificate required.
• A four-year degree in construction, engineering, or business is strongly preferred; additional work experience may substitute.
• Professional report writing, documentation, record keeping, organizational, communication, and multitasking skills.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and the ability to learn new software applications.
• Ability to work effectively with project teams and subcontractors.

Nice to have

• Current First Aid, AED, and CPR certification.
• CSP, ASP, CHST, or another safety-related designation.
