Principal Category Manager (PCBA)

What you will do

• Lead sourcing and supplier management for custom PCBA designs across development, production, and contract closeout.
• Develop supplier strategies, negotiate pricing, terms, schedules, and awards, and maintain strategic supplier relationships.
• Partner with engineering and manufacturing teams on specifications, bid packages, work statements, and procurement of specialized materials, equipment, and services.
• Assess supplier capacity, technical capabilities, quality yield, facilities, equipment, and readiness for rapid production ramp-up.
• Conduct supplier analysis and make-or-buy evaluations while managing cost, schedule, technology, market, and supply risks.
• Mentor supply chain colleagues and support compliance, ERP development, and other company projects.

Requirements

• BS degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, business, supply chain, operations management, or a related field.
• At least 12 years of subcontract, commodity, or supplier management experience, or at least 8 years with a master’s degree.
• Direct experience with design for manufacturing or design for quality, TCO analysis, supplier negotiations, and supplier-owned IP or statement-of-work products.
• Strong understanding of the end-to-end PCB/PCBA manufacturing process and experience managing cross-functional programs.
• Experience with supplier risk identification, mitigation, contingency planning, and manufacturing capacity assessment.
• Must be a US citizen, US national, lawful permanent resident, refugee, asylee, or eligible to obtain the required US export authorizations.

Nice to have

• MBA, aerospace or defense experience, and/or military experience.
• Experience with FAR/DFAR, Earned Value Management, financial management, or component electronics manufacturing.
• Strong written and oral communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across organizational levels.
