Analyst, Freight Cost Auditing (Automotive)

Location: Blythewood, South Carolina, United States; 4–5 days per week in the office with regular in-person meetings and occasional travel.

Salary: $70,000–$85,000 annual base salary, plus eligibility for an annual performance bonus.

What you will do

• Audit and validate freight invoices from carriers and logistics service providers against contracts, routing guides, shipment records, and approved services.
• Investigate billing discrepancies, duplicate payments, rate mismatches, missing documentation, and carrier disputes.
• Develop and standardize freight audit processes, controls, governance practices, and operating procedures.
• Identify automation, workflow, AI, TMS, and ERP opportunities to improve freight validation and exception management.
• Analyze transportation costs, maintain KPIs, prepare reporting, and provide actionable insights to management.
• Coordinate corrective actions and continuous improvement across internal teams, carriers, and logistics partners.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, finance, accounting, business administration, industrial engineering, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience.
• At least 2 years of experience in freight cost auditing, transportation finance, freight payment, logistics operations, accounts payable, transportation management, or a related function.
• Experience auditing freight invoices across FTL, LTL, expedited, intermodal, parcel, air freight, and ocean transportation.
• Experience analyzing transportation contracts, carrier tariffs, rate agreements, fuel surcharges, accessorial charges, and cost allocation.
• Experience with TMS, ERP, freight payment, and reporting systems; SAP TM, SAP S/4HANA, or SAP Business Network experience is strongly preferred.
• Ability to work onsite in Blythewood, South Carolina 4–5 days per week and attend in-person meetings and company events.

Nice to have

• Experience with a North American automotive OEM, Tier 1 supplier, logistics service provider, or freight audit provider.
• Experience developing internal controls, standard operating procedures, governance frameworks, and automation initiatives.
