Senior AI Fullstack Engineer - Backend Focus (AI)

Location: Remote, but the candidate must live close to one of hirify.global's designated U.S. IT locations: New York City, Louisville, Tampa, Fort Lauderdale, Dallas/Frisco, Boston, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Nashville, Chicago, or Charlotte. Occasional travel to hirify.global offices may be required.

Salary: $128,300–$176,400 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus incentive plan.

What you will do

• Design and lead core backend services, REST and GraphQL APIs, and service-to-service integrations for the AI product stack.
• Establish authentication, authorization, rate-limiting, PHI access-control, audit-logging, and HIPAA-compliant security patterns.
• Build reusable AI and LLM integration patterns, including routing, streaming responses, tool orchestration, and model-output handling.
• Develop logging, monitoring, and alerting infrastructure for reliable platform operation.
• Deliver full-stack features with TypeScript, Next.js, and React.
• Lead architecture reviews and define backend engineering standards.

Requirements

• 5+ years of software engineering experience with deep backend and platform engineering expertise.
• Strong proficiency in TypeScript and/or Python for API and service development.
• Experience building scalable production REST or GraphQL APIs and owning complex backend systems through production operation.
• Knowledge of OAuth2, OIDC, API security, authorization models, and HIPAA requirements for PHI.
• Experience with Next.js and React for full-stack feature development.
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools and LLM coding harnesses.

Nice to have

• Experience in healthcare, financial services, or another regulated industry.
• Exposure to event-driven architecture, microservices, API gateways, streaming APIs, and tool-use orchestration.
• Experience in a greenfield or team-founding engineering environment.
