Senior AI Software Engineer (Healthcare)

Location: Remote, but the candidate must live close to a designated hirify.global IT location in the United States: New York City, Louisville, Tampa, Fort Lauderdale, Dallas/Frisco, Boston, Washington, D.C., Atlanta, Nashville, Chicago, or Charlotte. Occasional travel to hirify.global offices for training or meetings may be required.

Salary: $128,300–$176,400 per year, plus eligibility for a bonus incentive plan.

What you will do

• Build and maintain LLM-powered clinical features, retrieval-augmented generation systems, structured prompt pipelines, and intelligent workflow automation.
• Develop evaluation frameworks and monitoring processes for the accuracy, safety, reliability, and failure modes of AI outputs and agents.
• Build Python- and TypeScript-based backend services exposing AI capabilities through REST, GraphQL, and WebSocket APIs.
• Contribute to AI infrastructure, deployment automation, MLOps tooling, and production operations.
• Ensure systems follow HIPAA standards and protect sensitive health information throughout the stack.
• Participate in architecture discussions, code reviews, technical design, and engineering standards for a growing team.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years building production AI/ML systems.
• Hands-on experience with large language models, orchestration frameworks such as LangChain or LlamaIndex, and AI-assisted development tools.
• Proficiency in Python, TypeScript, and ML libraries such as Hugging Face, PyTorch, or scikit-learn.
• Experience with REST or GraphQL APIs, RAG pipelines, vector databases, and custom LLM or agent evaluations.
• Ability to work from near a designated U.S. IT location and handle sensitive health data in compliance with HIPAA.

Nice to have

• Experience fine-tuning or systematically evaluating foundation models.
• Knowledge of multi-agent architectures, agent orchestration, and sandboxed code execution.
• Experience with clinical data, EHR systems, FHIR, or healthcare AI applications.
• TypeScript and Next.js experience, 0-to-1 product development, or early-stage engineering experience.
