Sr. AI Engineer (Agentic AI)

Location: Remote from the Eastern United States; the posting lists Washington, DC, United States.

Annual salary: $135,000–$180,000, plus bonus or incentive pay.

What you will do

• Develop enterprise-grade AI capabilities and platforms for intelligent instruments and autonomous laboratories.
• Design and implement multi-level, multi-domain agentic AI systems to improve instrument intelligence and laboratory automation.
• Translate product concepts into AI architectures aligned with product success criteria and measurable KPIs.
• Lead technically complex AI implementations spanning multiple functions and multi-quarter timelines.
• Advance the AI software stack and build AI roadmaps for imaging products across life sciences, diagnostics, and biotechnology.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, electrical engineering, robotics, automation, life sciences, or a related field.
• Long-standing experience in life sciences, diagnostics, biotechnology, or technology, including multiple years with agentic systems, LLMs, automation, robotics, or multimodal AI.
• Demonstrable expertise in at least three areas including convolutional neural networks, foundation models, vector databases, AI evaluation, RAG, agentic frameworks, or robotics.
• End-to-end experience implementing AI projects for imaging applications, particularly in life sciences or healthcare.
• Strong Python or C++ programming skills and experience with deep learning frameworks, containerization, cloud platforms, and hardware acceleration.
• Ability to collaborate cross-functionally, communicate complex technical concepts, and align AI development with product goals.

Nice to have

• Experience with medical-device regulatory processes and AI/ML-based software as a medical device.
• Familiarity with quality management systems and life sciences or diagnostics standards.
• Knowledge of instrument control mechanisms and their integration with AI systems.
