Head of Engineering, Field Verification (Fintech)

What you will do

• Own the technical strategy, architecture, and roadmap for the Field Verification platform.
• Move the platform from keep-the-lights-on operations to prioritised product development.
• Lead and grow the cross-functional team, including hiring and developing engineers and Engineering Managers.
• Build trip and route optimisation, task allocation, and capacity management for field officers.
• Own APIs, webhooks, the back office, and a native mobile experience for field officers.
• Prepare the platform for multi-country expansion and ensure verification data is auditable and suitable for compliance review.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including substantial hands-on production engineering and strong backend depth.
• At least 5 years of engineering leadership experience, including managing Engineering Managers.
• Strong experience across backend, web, and mobile engineering.
• Backend experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Experience building platforms used by multiple user groups and internal business units.
• Ability to collaborate with Product and business stakeholders and translate operational requirements into engineering solutions.

• Experience with location and geospatial data or map integrations.
• Experience with route, trip, or delivery optimisation.
• Experience building compliance-focused systems with structured, auditable data.
• Experience with identity, KYC, or verification platforms.
