Senior Software Engineering Manager (Active Savings) (Java/Spring Boot/AWS): Leading a 25–30-person engineering organization across five squads to build and operate savings account software for investment platform clients with an accent on secure, reliable, scalable services and regulated financial systems. Focus on replatforming core trading and customer systems, strengthening DevOps and secure engineering practices, and aligning technical delivery with product and business value.
Location: Bristol, UK, with 2–3 days per week in the Bristol office

What you will do
- Lead and inspire a cross-functional engineering organization of approximately 25–30 people across five squads.
- Deliver and continuously improve the Active Savings application, enabling clients to deposit cash into savings accounts offered by partner banks.
- Ensure services are secure, reliable, scalable, and supported through effective operational practices.
- Maintain high standards for agile delivery, DevOps, secure engineering, and technical quality.
- Support preparation for the next-generation replatforming of core trading and customer systems.
- Recruit, develop, and retain engineering talent while partnering with Product Managers and senior stakeholders.
Requirements
- Significant senior technology leadership experience in large-scale, regulated environments, ideally retail banking or asset and wealth management.
- Experience managing and scaling high-performing software engineering teams of 25 or more people.
- Strong engineering background with the ability to communicate architectural decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Hands-on knowledge of secure API design, authentication services, and mobile development using Swift, Kotlin, or React Native.
- Experience with modern DevOps practices and legacy and modern technology stacks.
- Employment sponsorship is not available.
Nice to have
- Experience with deposits, card or SWIFT payments, Pay by Bank, or Faster Payment Service.
- Exposure to Figma and Vercel.
- A strong technical degree from a reputable university.
