What you will do

• Lead and inspire a cross-functional engineering organization of approximately 25–30 people across five squads.
• Ensure consistent delivery, productivity, engagement, wellbeing, and technical excellence across the Active Savings tribe.
• Own the security, reliability, scalability, and continuous improvement of engineering services.
• Support preparation for the next-generation replatforming of core trading and customer systems.
• Recruit, develop, and retain engineering talent while fostering psychological safety and inclusive collaboration.
• Partner with Product Managers and senior stakeholders to align technical outcomes with business and client value.

Requirements

• Significant senior technology leadership experience in large-scale, regulated environments, ideally retail banking or asset and wealth management.
• Experience managing and scaling high-performing software engineering teams of 25 or more people.
• Strong engineering background with the ability to explain architecture and technical decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Hands-on knowledge of secure API design, authentication services, and mobile development with Swift, Kotlin, or React Native.
• Experience with modern DevOps practices and legacy and modern technology stacks.
• Ability to work in the Bristol office 2–3 days per week; employment sponsorship is unavailable.

Nice to have

• Experience with deposits, card or SWIFT payments, Pay By Bank, or Faster Payment Service.
• Exposure to Figma and Vercel.
• Strong technical degree from a reputable university.
