Head of Engineering, Field Verification (Fintech)

What you will do

• Own the technical strategy, architecture and roadmap for the Field Verification platform.
• Lead and grow the cross-functional engineering team and build the organisation as the scope expands.
• Develop trip and route optimisation, task allocation and capacity management for field officers.
• Own APIs, webhooks, the back office and other client-facing platform surfaces.
• Deliver a native mobile experience for field officers.
• Build auditable verification data and prepare the platform for multi-country expansion.

Requirements

• 10+ years of software engineering experience, including substantial hands-on production engineering and strong backend depth.
• At least 5 years of engineering leadership experience, including management of Engineering Managers.
• Backend, web and mobile engineering capability, with experience building platforms used by multiple user groups and business units.
• Strong experience with Java and Spring Boot.
• Ability to collaborate with Product and business stakeholders and translate operational requirements into engineering solutions.
• Must be based in Portugal for this remote role.

• Experience with location or geospatial data and map integrations.
• Experience with route, trip or delivery optimisation.
• Experience building compliance-focused systems with structured, auditable data.
• Experience with identity, KYC or verification platforms.
