Senior Manager, Legal (Brand Protection)

Location: Tokyo Corporate Office, Minato-ku, Japan; supports the Coach Korea business remotely and may require occasional quarterly travel.

What you will do

• Provide practical legal advice across retail, e-commerce, digital, marketing, merchandising, real estate, supply chain, and HR operations.
• Draft, review, negotiate, and manage contracts, templates, playbooks, renewals, and external counsel relationships.
• Design and execute brand protection programs for Japan and Korea, including marketplace monitoring, takedowns, customs seizures, police investigations, litigation, and trademark enforcement.
• Lead ethics, compliance, privacy, data protection, legal risk, dispute, and investigation activities under Japanese and equivalent Korean requirements.
• Manage corporate governance records, company seal controls, commercial registry documentation, board materials, policies, and delegation of authority.
• Supervise, coach, and develop junior legal staff and interns while managing priorities across Japan and Korea.

Requirements

• Law degree required; bar admission in any jurisdiction or a US law degree is a plus.
• At least 8 years of legal experience, with at least 2 years supervising or developing junior staff or clear readiness to do so.
• Strong command of Japanese law, especially company, commercial, consumer, privacy, and intellectual property law.
• Experience with contracts, compliance, corporate legal work, anti-counterfeiting, and brand protection enforcement.
• Excellent Japanese and English communication skills are required. Korean is a plus.
• Experience with an international or bicultural company and support for Korea or the wider Asia-Pacific region are preferred.

• Retail, consumer, or service industry experience.
• Experience supporting Korea or the wider Asia-Pacific region.
• Working knowledge of AI tools and legal technology, including contract lifecycle management, e-billing, e-discovery, IP, brand protection, and generative AI platforms.
