TL;DR
R&D Pathways Scientist (Chemistry/Materials Science): Conducting laboratory experiments and developing organic and inorganic materials through a 1–2-year rotational program with an accent on chemical analysis, process development, and industrial applications. Focus on designing experiments, interpreting scientific results, managing cross-functional projects, and translating findings into product and process improvements.

Location: On-site in St. Paul, Minnesota, USA; initial placement at the World Headquarters in Vadnais Heights, Minnesota. Occasional travel to manufacturing facilities and laboratories across the United States is required, with willingness to relocate after the 1–2-year rotational experience.

Salary: $70,000–$75,000 per year

What you will do

  • Conduct and analyze experiments on organic and inorganic substances to evaluate chemical and physical properties.
  • Design experiments to improve or replicate materials and investigate new processing and production methods.
  • Apply scientific theories and techniques to product and process development.
  • Manage multiple projects, interpret results, and communicate business impact and value propositions.
  • Document test results, project updates, and process improvement recommendations using project management methodologies.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, chemical engineering, or materials science, with expected graduation in spring 2026.
  • Completed coursework in Organic Chemistry I and II.
  • Ability to work safely and efficiently in laboratory and manufacturing environments.
  • Willingness to work on-site in Minnesota, travel occasionally within the United States, and relocate after the rotational experience.

  • Experience documenting technical information and communicating scientific findings to diverse audiences.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively on cross-functional teams.
