Location: Round Lake, Illinois, United States; onsite laboratory role. Applicants must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.

Salary: $88,000–$121,000 annually, with potential discretionary bonuses.

What you will do

  • Lead laboratory investigations involving particle identification, failure analysis, root-cause investigations, and manufacturing process capability.
  • Design and independently perform routine and complex experiments using scientific and analytical techniques.
  • Use stereomicroscopy, polarized light microscopy, SEM, EDS, FTIR, and Raman spectroscopy to characterize materials and particles.
  • Collaborate with R&D, Quality, and Manufacturing teams on scientific solutions, product development, and continuous improvement.
  • Evaluate data, interpret results, and provide technical recommendations for project and business decisions.
  • Improve analytical methods and processes while supporting feasibility studies and new research concepts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Chemistry, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Engineering, or a related scientific discipline with 3+ years of relevant industry experience, or a master’s degree or higher in a related scientific field.
  • Hands-on experience with microscopy, spectroscopy, and materials characterization techniques.
  • Strong scientific problem-solving, data interpretation, communication, and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams, organize multiple projects, and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • U.S. work authorization for any employer is required; employment visa sponsorship is not available.
