TL;DR

What you will do

  • Prepare diverse material samples using mechanical polishers, plasma and sputter coaters, and precision FIB-SEM milling and lift-out techniques.
  • Operate focused-ion beam scanning electron microscopy equipment for high-resolution imaging, EDS, and EBSD analysis.
  • Assess data quality, organize analytical outputs, and prepare reports for R&D, technical service, development, and manufacturing customers.
  • Perform routine instrument maintenance and troubleshooting according to laboratory procedures.
  • Handle and dispose of chemical and laboratory waste in compliance with environmental and institutional protocols.
  • Coordinate analytical priorities across the second shift and first-shift operator while meeting tight timelines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, Materials Science, Physics, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent hands-on technical training.
  • Ability to work 100% on-site in a laboratory environment with no remote work option.
  • Availability for a permanent second shift, approximately 4:00 PM–12:30 AM, Monday through Friday.
  • Commitment to laboratory safety, chemical handling procedures, waste management, and protocol adherence.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to collaborate in a fast-paced environment.

Nice to have

  • Hands-on academic or industrial experience with electron microscopy, including SEM, FIB, or TEM.
  • Practical experience with solution preparation and chemical handling in a laboratory.

Culture & Benefits

  • Monday–Friday schedule with 40 hours per week.
  • Daytime training, approximately 8:30 AM–5:00 PM, during the first three months.
  • Annual renewal contract assignment.
