Unit Supervisor - Herpetofauna (Australian Fauna)

Location: Taronga Zoo Sydney, Australia. Full-time onsite role working across a 7-day rotating roster, with shifts ranging from 6:00am to 4:00pm.

Salary: From AUD 105,691 base salary per year, plus 12% superannuation and applicable penalty rates.

What you will do

• Supervise and support Herpetofauna Keepers in the Australian Fauna Precinct.
• Deliver high-quality animal husbandry, wildlife care, and population management practices.
• Implement animal welfare, workplace health and safety, legislative, and organisational procedures.
• Set team and individual goals aligned with organisational strategy.
• Develop engaging guest experiences and communicate conservation and education messages.
• Build relationships with stakeholders, volunteers, students, and other supervisors.

Requirements

• Extensive experience in animal husbandry, specifically with herpetofauna.
• Certificate III in Captive Animals or an equivalent qualification.
• NSW Class C driver licence, or the ability to transfer a current unrestricted licence.
• Successful pre-employment TB screening and Q fever screening.
• Current paid NSW Working with Children Check, obtained and maintained at the applicant’s own expense.

Nice to have

• Experience handling venomous animals.
• Herpetofauna population management skills.
