Senior Systems Safety Engineer (Aerospace)

What you will do

• Own aircraft- and system-level safety assessment, verification, integration, and certification strategies.
• Conduct System Safety Assessments and supporting FHA, PSSA, FMEA/FMECA, and Fault Tree Analysis in accordance with ARP4754A and ARP4761.
• Architect complex vehicle systems, system-of-systems integrations, Iron Bird setups, avionics, and flight-controls interfaces.
• Develop certification plans, compliance evidence, verification-by-analysis credit, and airworthiness certification bases.
• Lead multidisciplinary integrated product teams, suppliers, integrators, and regulatory interactions.
• Mentor senior engineers, lead root-cause analysis, and establish technical direction for major programs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree with 8+ years of experience, master’s degree with 6+ years, or PhD with 3+ years in systems, aerospace, electrical, mechanical, or a related engineering discipline.
• Direct aerospace or aircraft systems experience through the certification lifecycle with FAA or EASA airworthiness authorities.
• Hands-on expertise in SSA, FHA, PSSA, FMEA/FMECA, and FTA, with results integrated into a certification basis.
• Experience with system-of-systems architecture, interface definition, verification and integration, and MBSE toolchains such as DOORS, Jama, Cameo, or Rhapsody SysML.
• Experience with MATLAB, Python, Simulink, digital-thread strategy, model validation, and VV&A standards.
• On-site work in Akron, Ohio is required. Background check and drug test clearance are required where applicable.
