TL;DR
Manufacturing Engineer (ECLSS) (Space Stations and Fluid Systems): Building and integrating water, air, thermal, and pressurized-gas hardware for human-rated space stations with an accent on first-article manufacturing, process definition, testing, and production documentation. Focus on solving design-for-manufacturing issues, developing tooling and fixtures, validating proof and leak tests, and improving build quality and repeatability for Haven modules.

Location: Long Beach, California, United States; onsite shop-floor work required

Salary: Manufacturing Engineer I — $86,100–$122,220 per year; Manufacturing Engineer II — $112,340–$159,468 per year.

Company

hirify.global develops and manufactures commercial space stations, spacecraft, satellites, and space infrastructure for government, corporate, and private customers.

What you will do

  • Build, assemble, integrate, and test ECLSS fluid hardware from first article through flight hardware.
  • Define and maintain work instructions, assembly procedures, build travelers, inspection plans, and manufacturing processes.
  • Develop processes for tube bending and routing, fitting installation, welding, brazing, cleaning, passivation, and assembly.
  • Support proof, burst, pressure-decay, helium mass-spectrometry leak, and functional testing.
  • Identify design-for-manufacturing and design-for-assembly issues, resolve build problems, and support nonconformance investigations and corrective actions.
  • Design and procure tooling and fixtures, train technicians, track build risks, and improve first-pass yield, build time, and scrap.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a science discipline.
  • Manufacturing Engineer I: 0–2 years of manufacturing, production, test, or hardware-development engineering experience; Manufacturing Engineer II: 2+ years in manufacturing, production, or test engineering for fluid, thermal, environmental-control, or other high-reliability hardware.
  • Hands-on experience with fluid or pressurized-gas hardware, including tubing, fittings, valves, pumps, heat exchangers, filters, fans, or separators.
  • Experience with GD&T, tolerance stack-up analysis, inspection planning, manufacturing documentation, and first builds or first articles.
  • Experience with high-pressure testing, precision or oxygen-clean hardware, cleanliness verification, root-cause investigation, and corrective actions.
  • The position requires access to U.S. export-controlled information; candidates must be a U.S. person or otherwise eligible for deemed-export licensing.

Nice to have

  • Master’s degree in engineering.
  • Experience with NX and PLM or MES systems.
  • Background in aerospace, spacecraft, propulsion, ECLSS, thermal, fluid, or other high-reliability hardware.

Culture & Benefits

  • Full-time exempt employment with company equity.
  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage, paid time off, paid parental leave, disability insurance, and life insurance.
  • Access to a 401(k) retirement plan, ClassPass credits, personalized mental healthcare, and employee discounts.
