Summer Associate Internship (Data Engineer)

Location: Vienna, Virginia, United States (Hybrid); Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–4:30 PM

What you will do

• Support real-time data and event-streaming initiatives by analyzing data flows, monitoring event streams, and improving platform onboarding and automation.
• Analyze structured and unstructured member feedback for Voice of the Member analytics.
• Support master data management through data profiling, validation, metadata analysis, and data quality assessments.
• Participate in proof-of-concepts involving AI and emerging data technologies.
• Research industry trends and collaborate with engineers, architects, data scientists, and business stakeholders.
• Document findings and present recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, or a related technical field.
• Expected graduation date of December 2027 or later.
• Knowledge of data structures, databases, data analysis, software development principles, and SQL.
• Understanding of programming languages such as Python or Java.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States and meet all internship eligibility requirements.
• Internship availability from May 2027 through August 2027 for the 12-week program.

Nice to have

• Exposure to Apache Kafka or similar real-time streaming platforms.
• Understanding of AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud Platform.
• Knowledge of data integration, ETL/ELT, data warehousing, modern data architecture, data governance, master data management, or metadata management.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
