Summer Associate Internship (Security Standards Governance)

Location: Hybrid in Vienna, Virginia, United States; Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-4:30 PM ET

Salary: $26.44-$46.88 per hour

What you will do

• Evaluate industry frameworks and identify improvements to information security standards.
• Communicate proposed standards updates with business and security stakeholders.
• Research, select, and tailor security controls to organizational needs.
• Support migration between documentation platforms, including SharePoint Online.
• Assist with strategic planning and implementation of team initiatives.
• Research emerging technologies and risks, including Artificial Intelligence and Post-Quantum Cryptography, and develop recommendations.

Requirements

• Currently pursuing a degree at an accredited college or university, with expected graduation in December 2027 or later.
• Strong communication, analytical, organizational, planning, and time management skills.
• Understanding of general information technology concepts and business process optimization.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to present technical and non-technical information clearly.
• Ability to build relationships, influence stakeholders, collaborate, take initiative, and exercise sound judgment.
• Curiosity and eagerness to learn new technologies and security practices.

Nice to have

• Coursework, projects, or experience in security risk and controls management or cybersecurity frameworks such as NIST, FedRAMP, PCI DSS, HIPAA, or ISO.
• Knowledge of banking regulations and regulatory examination approaches.
• Knowledge of COSO, COBIT, NIST CSF, ITIL, GDPR, CCPA, or NIST Privacy Frameworks.
• Experience developing or implementing security risk and controls management frameworks.
• Experience with information technology systems, project processes, application development, or SharePoint Online.
