TL;DR
Information Systems Security Engineer (Cybersecurity/RMF): Supporting the design, implementation, and sustainment of secure federal information systems with an accent on NIST controls, Assessment and Authorization documentation, and AWS security compliance. Focus on validating security-control evidence, maintaining RMF artifacts, conducting vulnerability scans, and responding to security incidents in mission-critical environments.

Location: Sterling, VA; support for a customer in the Dulles, Virginia area

Salary: $99,000–$206,000 per year

What you will do

  • Prepare Assessment and Authorization documents, procedures, and accreditation artifacts.
  • Support the design, development, implementation, and sustainment of secure government information systems.
  • Engineer, implement, and maintain security controls using NIST SP 800-53 and the Risk Management Framework.
  • Develop system security plans, Plans of Action and Milestones, security architecture diagrams, and continuous monitoring documentation.
  • Collaborate with system owners, program managers, software engineers, security teams, and government security representatives.
  • Monitor security systems, analyze logs, respond to incidents, and evaluate emerging technologies.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science, information systems, information technology, cybersecurity, or a related discipline.
  • 8+ years of relevant experience supporting federal cybersecurity programs or government IT environments.
  • Strong knowledge of NIST SP 800-3, NIST SP 800-37, RMF, and federal security compliance processes.
  • Experience with secure system design, encryption, identity management, access control, network security, and AWS cloud security compliance.
  • Experience using Nessus, AppDetective, WebInspect, and other vulnerability scanning tools, as well as the Sponsor’s A&A Tool.
  • TS/SCI clearance with polygraph required on day one.
