Research Associate, Analytical Development (mRNA)

Location: Norwood, Massachusetts, United States; site-based and not eligible for remote work

Salary: $63,200–$100,900 per year, with potential discretionary bonus, incentive compensation, or equity award.

What you will do

• Execute cell-based bioassays to evaluate potency and biological activity of mRNA-based medicines.
• Support assay development, optimization, troubleshooting, and qualification under guidance.
• Perform mammalian cell culture and maintain cell lines.
• Analyze and accurately document experimental data, identify assay variability, and support assay robustness.
• Follow protocols, SOPs, and regulatory expectations while contributing to technical protocols and reports.
• Collaborate with Quality, Process Development, Research, and other cross-functional partners to support clinical and commercial programs.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Immunology, Biological Engineering, or a related field.
• 0–3+ years of relevant experience and hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture, transient transfections, bioassays, or related biological techniques.
• Scientific curiosity, ability to learn new experimental techniques, and ability to troubleshoot and adapt in a fast-paced research environment.
• Strong attention to detail, accurate protocol execution, basic data analysis, and problem-solving skills.
• Experience maintaining laboratory notebooks and documenting experimental work clearly and systematically.
• Full-time presence at the Norwood, Massachusetts site is required; remote work is not available.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with GraphPad Prism, data visualization, and basic statistical concepts.
• Experience with ELISA, cell-based assays, or reporter assays.
• Exposure to nucleic acid therapeutics and delivery technologies such as RNA, DNA, lipid nanoparticles, or viral vectors.
