Associate Scientist (LNP)

Location: Waltham, Massachusetts, United States; onsite

Salary: $75,000–$108,333 per year

What you will do

• Support formulation optimization and process understanding for mRNA-containing lipid nanoparticle (LNP) formulations and production processes.
• Conduct small-scale, multi-component LNP formulation experiments and assist with transferring formulations into CMC development.
• Contribute to developability packages and initial formulation processes for new LNP formulations.
• Perform in-process drug product characterization and routine or complex analytical methods under supervision.
• Assist with troubleshooting formulation, processing, and technical issues in coordination with Analytical Sciences.
• Document studies, analyze characterization data, present progress, and support the installation of new laboratory equipment.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Pharmaceutical Sciences, Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
• At least 2 years of experience in formulation, process development, or laboratory research; internship and academic laboratory experience are considered.
• Ability to work onsite in Waltham, Massachusetts.
• Developing laboratory skills and scientific understanding of LNP formulation development.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in a relevant scientific discipline.
• Professional formulation or process development experience in a pharmaceutical or biotechnology environment.
• Familiarity with LNP production processes or analytical characterization techniques.
• Experience with electronic laboratory notebook systems.
