Manager, Data Architecture and Strategy (AI/ML)

Location: Hybrid role based in Westwood, Massachusetts; East Berlin, Connecticut; or Manchester, New Hampshire. Employees are expected to work at least three days per week in the office, including Tuesdays and Wednesdays, and must be able to work up to five days in the office when required. Travel between Massachusetts, Connecticut, and New Hampshire and emergency restoration assignments may be required.

What you will do

• Lead the design, implementation, governance, and evolution of the enterprise data architecture.
• Own the enterprise data platform roadmap, ensuring performance, scalability, reliability, maintainability, and alignment with business needs.
• Establish and manage conceptual, logical, and physical data modeling practices and enterprise data standards.
• Oversee data engineering teams delivering pipelines, transformations, integrations, data quality, and security capabilities.
• Partner with business stakeholders, product teams, Enterprise Architects, Solution Architects, and engineering leaders to translate business needs into data architecture solutions.
• Lead and mentor data architects, manage architectural risks, and promote continuous improvement and adoption of best practices.

Requirements

• Ten or more years of experience in an IT-related field and at least three years building, managing, and leading teams.
• Deep knowledge of data lake, lakehouse, data warehouse, data mesh, medallion architecture, data modeling, integration patterns, governance, metadata, compliance, and access control.
• Experience with at least one public cloud data platform: AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud; Azure Purview and Azure Data Factory experience is preferred.
• Working knowledge of SQL, Python, PySpark, and Scala for data management and analytics workflows.
• Experience with data quality, observability, monitoring, CI/CD, infrastructure as code, query optimization, and workload management.
• Bachelor’s degree in information technology, a related discipline, or equivalent experience; strong communication skills and utility-industry regulatory knowledge.

Nice to have

• Experience with Databricks, Snowflake, Fivetran, Informatica, MuleSoft, or similar platforms.
• TOGAF or another enterprise architecture framework experience.
• Cloud platform certification or SAFe Agilist / Leading SAFe certification.
• Master’s degree.
