Senior Employee Relations Specialist (Fintech)

Location: Tysons, Virginia, United States; hybrid work

Salary: $131,200–$238,300 annually for work performed in Virginia.

What you will do

• Lead timely, impartial investigations into employee complaints, misconduct allegations, and complex employee relations cases.
• Assess conduct issues and recommend appropriate resolutions, including disciplinary actions.
• Advise managers and employees on employment law, performance management, conflict resolution, accommodations, progressive discipline, and reductions in force.
• Partner with HR, Legal, Compliance, Internal Audit, Security, Data Privacy, and other stakeholders to resolve sensitive matters.
• Design and deliver preventive employee relations training and mentor junior ER staff.
• Monitor employment legislation, update ER policies, and develop metrics and reporting for stakeholders.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• At least 10 years of progressive HR or employee relations experience, including 5 years advising management on employee relations matters.
• Experience managing moderate to complex investigations and preparing written investigative reports.
• Strong knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Ability to work in a hybrid arrangement in Tysons, Virginia.

Nice to have

• Juris Doctor degree or specialized labor and employee relations training or certification.
• Experience in a regulated industry such as financial services, legal, or healthcare.
• Familiarity with ER case management platforms, people analytics, and ER training programs.
