Claim Specialist - Property Field Inspection (Property Insurance)

Location: Trenton, New Jersey, with residence required within the listed New Jersey ZIP-code territory. Remote-field work includes home-based virtual tasks, a mobile office or vehicle, and regular in-person property inspections. Travel outside the assigned territory may occasionally be required.

Salary: $78,862.06–$112,500 annually, plus potential incentive pay of up to 15% of base salary.

What you will do

• Conduct on-site inspections and assess damage for residential and commercial property claims.
• Investigate and adjust personal and commercial claims with exposures up to $500,000.
• Evaluate coverage and policy terms, document evidence, and prepare detailed reports.
• Communicate with policyholders, agents, and other stakeholders throughout the claims process.
• Negotiate and settle claims within authorized limits and applicable guidelines.
• Provide customer service during difficult or emotionally charged claim situations.

Requirements

• Experience handling property claims and the ability to investigate issues, evaluate information, and make well-supported decisions.
• Ability to interpret detailed policies, guidelines, and technical information and apply them accurately.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, analytical, and customer-service skills.
• Proficiency with mobile and desktop tools for documenting claims in the field and remotely.
• Physical ability to lift and carry items, climb ladders, navigate roofs at various heights, and crawl in confined spaces.
• A valid driver's license; required training, licensing examinations, motor vehicle record checks, and background checks must be completed.

Nice to have

• Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent property claims experience.
• Knowledge of property insurance policies, coverage, claims handling, and residential and commercial construction.
• Water mitigation inspection experience.
• Experience with Xactimate and XactContents.
