Building Engineer (HVAC, Electrical & Plumbing)

Location: Birmingham, Alabama, United States; 100% in-office during standard business hours

What you will do

• Perform scheduled maintenance, repairs, inspections, and preventive maintenance for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and other building systems.
• Respond to tenant service requests, including hot and cold calls, plumbing issues, lighting repairs, and urgent emergencies.
• Troubleshoot minor equipment malfunctions, replace fixtures and filters, and escalate complex issues to senior engineers.
• Maintain inspection and equipment performance records and identify property deficiencies.
• Assist with contractor oversight, severe-weather recovery, system-outage response, and on-call rotations.
• Work with tenants, contractors, property managers, senior engineers, and technicians while developing technical skills.

Requirements

• 2–3 years of job-related experience or equivalent certification or trade experience.
• Engineering and trade licenses required by applicable local, state, or national regulations.
• Developing familiarity with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, and building automation system operation and troubleshooting.
• Basic proficiency with Microsoft Office, Outlook, laptops, phones, and work-order systems.
• Ability to stand, walk, climb ladders, stoop, crouch, kneel, and lift up to 50 pounds.
• Must already be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.
