Associate General Counsel, Legal & Business Affairs - Litigation

Location: Austin, United States; hybrid schedule with office work generally Monday through Thursday and flexible remote work on Fridays

Salary: $285,000–$315,000 annual base salary, plus additional equity

What you will do

• Own the non-IP litigation portfolio, including consumer class actions, commercial and contract disputes, privacy claims, and related regulatory enforcement matters.
• Manage government investigations and inquiries from the FTC, state attorneys general, data protection authorities, and other regulators.
• Develop case strategies, novel legal theories, early case assessments, litigation playbooks, and post-mortems.
• Direct outside counsel relationships and budgets to achieve efficient, high-quality outcomes.
• Advise Product, Engineering, Ads, Data/Analytics, Compliance, and senior leadership on litigation and privacy risk.
• Provide decision-ready reporting on litigation exposure, trends, and significant matters.

Requirements

• Substantial experience managing complex litigation at a top-tier law firm, in-house, or both.
• Experience with consumer class actions and government investigations, from assessment through resolution.
• Exceptional legal writing and verbal communication skills, including the ability to advise senior stakeholders and simplify complex legal issues.
• Ability to develop creative solutions and make sound judgments amid incomplete facts, unsettled law, and competing pressures.
• Proven ability to build relationships and operate effectively in a matrixed, technology-driven organization.
• J.D. from a U.S.-accredited law school and active bar membership in good standing.

Nice to have

• 15+ years of combined litigation experience.
• Experience in high-growth technology or media companies.
• Direct experience with privacy litigation, first-impression legal questions, or regulatory enforcement matters.
