General Counsel (Robotics)

Location: Hybrid, with three days per week on-site at the Manhattan or Glen Cove, NY office

Salary: $300,000–$375,000 base salary plus equity

What you will do

• Own drafting, review, and negotiation of customer, NDA, supply, reseller, and supplier agreements.
• Build standardized terms, contract playbooks, fallback positions, and escalation processes.
• Structure liability, indemnification, insurance, warranty, privacy, and AI-use provisions for industrial hardware products.
• Support defense customer requirements, including DFARS, CMMC, and NIST SP 800-171 compliance.
• Advise on international expansion, subsidiary formation, cross-border contracts, employment matters, strategic transactions, and IP-related deal terms.
• Act as the primary legal contact across the company and manage outside counsel scope and spend.

Requirements

• J.D. and admission to practice in New York.
• 6–10 years of experience, with substantial focus on commercial contracts and technology transactions.
• Experience with hardware, industrial technology, robotics, or manufacturing companies, including supply chains and product liability.
• Proven ability to negotiate with sophisticated counterparties, including enterprise legal teams.
• Ability to operate independently as a department of one, with strong judgment and a business-focused approach.
• Reliable availability to work on-site in Manhattan or Glen Cove three days per week.

Nice to have

• Government contracting experience involving DFARS flowdowns, CMMC, or NIST SP 800-171.
• Employment law, employment litigation management, international expansion, or data privacy experience.
• Corporate, M&A, venture transaction, or IPO preparation experience.
• Experience building a legal function from scratch at a high-growth startup.
