TL;DR
Senior Technical Program Manager (Earth Observation): Leading end-to-end earth observation programs for U.S. Government customers across spacecraft concept development, design, integration, launch, and on-orbit operations with an accent on cost, schedule, technical baselines, and contractual deliverables. Focus on coordinating systems engineering, payload, flight software, ground processing, and mission operations while managing government compliance, export controls, and follow-on program capture.

Location: Hybrid in San Jose, California, with onsite work required three days per week. U.S.-only performance and ITAR/EAR export-control requirements apply.

Salary: $206,000–$232,000 per year, plus equity and benefits.

What you will do

  • Own program cost, schedule, technical baselines, integrated master schedule, risk register, and contract milestones.
  • Lead earth observation programs through concept development, design, integration, launch, and on-orbit operations.
  • Plan and run internal readiness reviews and customer-facing milestone deliverable reviews.
  • Serve as the primary program interface for U.S. Government contracting and technical representatives.
  • Direct cross-functional teams across systems engineering, payload, flight software, ground processing, and mission operations.
  • Ensure contractual, security, ITAR/EAR, and public-release compliance while supporting follow-on program opportunities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a technical field, or equivalent experience.
  • 8+ years of program management experience on complex aerospace or defense development programs.
  • Experience owning cost, schedule, and technical baselines and executing U.S. Government contracts with statement-of-work and CDRL deliverables.
  • Experience leading engineering teams through concept development, trade studies, and preliminary design.
  • Exceptional written communication skills for customer-facing reports, design artifacts, and contract deliverables.
  • Must be able to perform the role in compliance with U.S. export-control requirements and access controlled information under applicable ITAR/EAR rules.

Nice to have

  • Satellite or instrument program leadership across design, build, integration, testing, and operations.
  • Remote sensing experience with EO/IR or RF systems at the payload or mission level.
  • Experience with USSF Space Systems Command or JPL.
  • PMP certification or equivalent program management credentials.
  • Ability to obtain a security clearance.
