Director, Major Projects (New Generation)

Location: Cresap, West Virginia, United States; on-site at the project location for the duration of project execution

Salary: $188,524–$245,080 per year

What you will do

• Direct end-to-end execution of major generation construction projects with capital budgets of $1B–$10B.
• Lead project safety, integrated scheduling, cost control, forecasting, change management, and risk mitigation.
• Establish commercial strategies and oversee EPC, engineering, contractor, consultant, and vendor agreements.
• Coordinate regulatory filings, permits, utility commissions, RTOs, regulators, landowners, and other stakeholders.
• Build, mentor, and manage project leadership teams, employees, staff augmentation resources, and consultants.
• Deliver construction safely, on schedule, within approved investment, and in compliance with NERC, FERC, RTO, and utility commission requirements.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, business, project management, accounting, finance, or a related field.
• At least 10 years of qualified experience across major construction projects, project management, project controls, generation, commissioning, portfolio management, or contract negotiations.
• PMP certification required.
• Valid state driver’s license required.
• Demonstrated progressive responsibility, business acumen, leadership, strategic planning, risk mitigation, conflict management, delegation, and decision-making skills.
• Must work on location at the project being overseen during project execution and be able to perform site duties at construction, power plant, and other AEP locations.

Nice to have

• Master’s degree in business, engineering, project management, accounting, finance, construction management, or a related field.
• Experience with generation, utility, heavy industrial, or new-generation EPC projects.
• Experience with interconnection agreements, air permits, environmental permits, state utility commissions, PJM, MISO, SPP, ERCOT, USACE, USFWS, or NEPA.
• Prior internal experience as Project Manager Staff, Project Manager Staff Senior, or Director Projects.
