What you will do

  • Manage outpatient acute and chronic problems related to cancer, treatments, and associated conditions in collaboration with physicians.
  • Provide anticipatory guidance, patient and family education, and psychological and emotional support.
  • Prescribe schedule II–V controlled substances within the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary care teams, partner institutions, and agencies.
  • Apply critical thinking and research principles to improve the quality of oncology and medical care.
  • Support leadership and advances in nursing and medical practice within the workplace and community.

Requirements

  • Must be licensed and authorized to practice in Massachusetts.
  • Current certification from a nationally recognized accrediting body approved by the Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing for Nurse Practitioners, or NCCPA certification and Massachusetts Physician Assistant licensure.
  • For Nurse Practitioners: a master’s degree in nursing, at least 24 contact hours in pharmacotherapeutics, and at least one year of oncology nursing or Nurse Practitioner experience.
  • For Physician Assistants: a master’s degree, completion of an AAPA/NCCPA-accredited Physician Assistant Studies program, and current DEA and Massachusetts controlled-substance licenses.
  • Physician Assistant experience requirements vary by level: no experience for PA I, two years for PA II, and five years for PA III.
  • The role is based onsite in Boston.

Nice to have

  • Oncology Nurse Practitioner experience.
  • Oncology nursing certification such as OCN, AOCN, CPON, BMTCN, or CPHON.
